 ABOUT US

 The Ginny Goes Green project began in 2007 to document and share my journey to become "greener". 

In the beginning it was harder than I thought.  But what I have realized is that making a difference doesn’t have to mean making huge changes in your lifestyle, sometimes it just means making a few little adjustments.

Hubby Doug and I began by making a commitment to be more environmentally friendly and to make more socially conscious decisions in our everyday lives.  We started out small...sorting through the garbage to separate all the recyclables and trying to purchase items in minimal packaging and/or recyclable packaging.

Out went the harsh chemical cleansers and I began creating my own cleaning supplies, which I now share with you all. 

My wonderful mother in law, Shirley, and I created so many shopping bags for our friends and family that others began asking for them, too.  We are known at our local stores for these wonderful bags!

Then we took a bit bigger step when the SUV was replaced by our happy hybrid.  Shortly after that, the big muscle car moved on to a friend as Doug traded "down" to a gas sipper for his commuter car.

In 2009, our ever growing quest for greeness brought together our passion for art and the environment and Green Glass Designs,  featuring upcycled creations using recycled bottles was born.

As we become more eco aware, we are continually learning to redesign, remix and rediscover new ways to love what we have. 

Over the last few years things have certainly changed...for the greener and we try to continue to grow in our commitment. It isn't always easy and we aren't always successful.  But if we goof and sway off our green path, I don't beat myself up over it...tomorrow will bring a new day and another chance to make a tiny little difference.
